Summary
The Delta Delta Delta Sorority was founded at Boston University in 1888 and is presented as Alpha Chapter. This organization represent a group of women who are BRAVE, BOLD, and KIND.
Every year, Boston University’s Student Activities Office hosts a Splash event for introducing new students to the variety of interactive programs offered in association with the university. On that day, students and faculties presents over 300 organizations including cultural clubs, major or honor fraternities, sports teams (etc.), offering free food/drink, activities, and entertainment.
Idea
The process in creating this design stems from one of the emblems, and the greek alphabet “D” of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, the emblem being a trident (power of three) and the symbols forming triangles. Since Splash is held at the end of summer and just before, the desire to have a fun atmosphere need to be translated toward the design. The main color selected was Sea Serpent for BRAVE BOLD KIND, and the accompanying hue Azurish Blue supports the displayed phrase with the resonance of a pool. As the design swims into a sea of blue, members of the sorority made an energizing atmosphere at for students to take a splash in!
Goals
» to create a clean design with BRAVE BOLD KIND phrase included in
» must display the organization’s title as well as the event’s title and year
» use a welcoming and inviting palette to encourage students to talk to member
» attribute to the (power of three) Tri Delta symbol, the trident
Guide
The palette includes Sea Serpent, Azurish White, Topaz, Big Foot Feet, and Terra Cotta, while the typefaces used are Quimby Gubernatorial for headings / titles, and Avenir for paragraphs.

DELTA HOUSE OF PANCAKES

Summary
DHOP, short for Delta House of Pancakes, is an annual philanthropic event celebrated by many Tri Delta chapters throughout the nation. Delta Delta Delta hosts this event to spread awareness of St. Jude and its cause to support children with cancer. For this year, the alpha chapter has decided to change the theme to the TV show Riverdale, and bandwagon on the show to attract more customers / students.
Idea
Since the theme of DHOP was Riverdale, I wanted to bring in a very important destination within the show: the Chock’lit Shoppe. As our venue transports the diner into the realm of the an 80’s diner, some of the members of Delta Delta Delta sorority also dress up and adapt the personalities of the characters.
For the t-shirt design, it emulates the sign of the Chock’lit Shoppe with the type recreated from the original letters. Using typographic rules and restraints, some of the letters not present to spell out pancake are formed.
As for the cover, an outside perspective of the Chock’lit Shoppe was chosen as the primary display for the deliverables — with the bright neon lights as an undoubtable eye catcher.
