Here, let me catch you up!
Solution Engineers and Sales Teams are gradually losing deals with unintuitive and overly compled UI on presentational prototypes. This makes them unappealing to potential customers, and hinders the intake of new businesses.
With simple Figma enablement classes, team members who lack design or developer skills, can easily grasp the basics of some Figma features, and customize the prototypes themselves.
This can also streamline any small design asks that customers is looking for, and help main product design teams to focus on building internal products.
Pre-sessionBefore getting started on the program, there were some questions that needed to be answered. Ones like:
① Who at Salesforce uses Figma?
②
What situations might require someone to jump in and learn to edit Figma files?
③ What are some core and interesting examples we can use to create the hands-on experiences?
and lastly,
④ How can the sessions encourage taking a ‘product first’ approach for demos and customizations?
A bit of digging and a couple interviews later, the data that were gathered were sufficient enough for the team to piece together the 90 minute program.
In-sessionAs the session began, I wanted to set the tone and expectations as, fun and intruiging. What the audience walks away with in terms of understanding the basics of Figma, is just as important in the learning process as having fun. And as someone with a million siblings (I have 5 younger ones ) and having studied in child development a bit, I know for sure that we remember lessons better when we’re not in a stressed environment.
And so, why not bring some Figma fun?
While presenting and going through the program, I had the audience jump in there with me.
And that’s...
...how over 45+ avatars started collaborating in one single file all at once. Haha!
I also mentioned that they can go off and explore while I provided the audio, and if anyone was ever feeling lost, they could use the following feature on my avatar. I loved how so many were comfortable and kept an open mind with the exercises.
Some of the lessons in the program were:
- File creation
- Navigation Tools
- Swapping Components
- Grouping, Frames and Sections
- Inserting images
- Prototyping
Post-sessionAnd although I’m a little sad I can’t show a short clip of the session here, it still boggles my mind that,
within 2 classes, 200+ members attended, and 98 of them were Solution Engineers across 4 different industries.
Everyone was very sweet in asking questions and giving feedback during and post lesson. I also provided a list of resources for the members that were facinated in learning about everything Figma. This included all Salesforce x Figma toolkits, templates, and libraries, as well as some external mini projects that Figma has on their site for beginners.
